THE WILL TO SUCCEED

The Managing Director
The Vice President/ Head of IT
Advisory Partner
Old and New Staffs
Ladies and Gentlemen:

I want to take this time out to thank the Managing Director and the management of Excellon System Limited for the privilege given to me to speak to you.

I know that at the end of this session, you would have succeeded in getting cutting edge information that will help you move from where you are to where you want to get to.

The Topic before me today is:

THE WILL TO SUCCEED

I once heard the story of a great French general named La Variere who made the decision to attack, even though his troops were largely outnumbered. He was certain of victory, but he felt his men's fear and wanted to do something to cut short their protestations.
On a country road he stopped before an isolated chapel and declared, "I am
going inside and I will ask for God's help. Then I will come out and flip
this gold coin. If our Emperor's face appears we will win. If the other side
comes up head, then we will lose. And so, my companions, our fate is in the hands of destiny."
After a few moments in the chapel, La Variere came out and flipped the coin.
Napoleon's head appeared. The soldiers shouted and acclaimed their destiny,
and the entire company's moral was lifted. Convinced that they would be
victorious, they fought with such bravery that they rapidly won the battle.
After the victory
Vermont, one of La Variere's adjutants, said, "Oh Sir, no
one can change the course of Destiny. This unexpected victory is yet another
Proof of that."
"Who knows, my dear
Vermont, who knows," replied the General, and he
Showed him the coin on which Napoleon's head appeared... on both sides!

You must develop a strong will for success if indeed you want to experience some level of success in your life and in your career.

Success doesn’t just happen, someone must make it happen and for you to become successful, you must make it happen.

Questions:

How many of you would want to succeed in life and in your chosen field?

Why do you want to succeed?

What is your definition of success?

My goal for this lecture is to motivate and inspire you towards peak performance and to help you channel your potentials and resources into a productive and fruitful venture for Excellon System Limited.

For us to be able to achieve this goals together, we need to understand some basics, but before I take us through the basics, I want us to know that we are either burning with a passion, working on a mission or carrying a vision. If we don’t belong to any of these categories, life becomes a burden.

There are people that became extremely successful in our society because they belong to these categories and they develop a strong will for success. People like Prof. Philip Emegwali, Pst. Enoch Adeboye, Rev Sam Adeyemi, Erastus Akingbola, Rev Dele George, e.t.c

Some Basics for Success.

MISSION:

Mission simple means the particular work that you feel it is your duty to do. Now what do you intend to do for Excellon System Ltd.? You must harmonize your life mission with the mission of this organization so that both you and your organization (Excellon System Ltd.) can experience success.

It is the mission we have that helps us to set goals. Goals are steps towards the attainment of our mission.

VALUES:

Values are your beliefs that enable you to differentiate between what is right from what is wrong and what is important to you. Your values will go a long way to help both you and Excellon System to achieve success.

Your values determine how you use your time. When you place value on people’s time and on your time, you will hardly be late to work or any appointment.

Your values can pull you towards success or towards failure; it determines what you get from life

PRINCIPLES:

Principles are the moral rules or a strong belief that influence every action you take.

If we work with the wrong principles, we can never arrive at the right result.

There are principles that govern success, discover such principles, I mean principles like Good Moral Ethics, Integrity, Responsibility, Respect to Rules and Laws, Hard Work, Saving Culture and Investment, Punctuality, Doing first thing first, e.t.c. build your life around them and both you and your organization will become successful.

The truth is that, when you identify and establish your essential purpose and set up shared vision and values, you can become successful with any situation that you will encounter on your way to executing your mission for Excellon System Ltd.

In Conclusion, I will like to leave us with this story.

It happen in southwest Asia in the 14th century. The army of Asian Conqueror Emperor Tamerlane (a descendant of Ghengis Khan) had been routed and dispersed by a powerful enemy. Tamerlane himself lay hidden in a deserted manger while the enemy troop scoured the countryside.

As he lay there, desperate and dejected, Tamerlane watched an ant try to carry a grain of corn over a perpendicular wall. The corn was larger than the ant itself. As the emperor counted 69 times the ant tried to carry it up the wall, 69 times he fell back. On the seventieth try the ant pushed the grain of corn over the top.

Tamerlane leaped to his feet with a shout! He too would triumph in the end! And he did, reorganizing his forces and putting the enemy to flight.

No matter how many times you may fail on your job, if you have the “Will to Succeed” you’ll sure have success.

Thank you very much for listening, hope to see you same time tomorrow and I wish you success unlimited with Excellon System Ltd.

God Bless You All!
