The Principal,

Vice Principal

Our Future leaders

Ladies and Gentlemen!

I want to take this time out to thank the principal and management of this school for the privilege given to me to stand here today to speak to you all.

The Topic before me today is:

PLAN YOUR WAY THROUGH TO SUCCESS

I once heard the story of a young African American boy who saw a man holding different colors of balloons. The boy watches the man as the man walks towards the entrance of a stadium gate with the white, yellow, black, red, blue, orange, purple and green balloons.

The young Black boy summoned all the courage he had and walked up to the man. He wanted to get an answer to a question that had been in his heart for a long while. He asked “Sir can this black balloon (pointing to the black balloon) fly as high as others?”

The man gazed at the boy for a while with tears almost dropping from his eyes. He told the boy to watch. He quickly released the balloons from his hands

. The boy watched the balloons as they all flew higher and higher into the sky.

“Did the black balloon fly as high as the others?” the man asked, “yes it did” the boy answered.

The man places his hand on the shoulder of the young black boy and told him that the balloons are like people. The most important thing is not their color, or their outward appearance but what is inside them – The Power Within!

It is what you posses inside you that make all the difference in your life. The air in the balloon is what makes them fly higher and higher, not the color of the balloon.

This story makes me come with the findings that we can become highly successful in whatever profession or career path that we find ourselves because we’ve been blessed with unlimited potentials from God.

Questions:

How may of you would want to succeed in life?

Why do you want to succeed?

What is your own definition of success?

“Success for me means – the ability for me to be able to motivate you towards maximizing your God given potentials...every other thing is secondary as far as I’m concern.”

What would you want to become in future?

Effective planning is the key to success unlimited.

According to Oxford Advance Learners Dictionary, Planning means to make detailed arrangements for something you want to do in the future or a set of things you need to do in order to achieve something.

Most students fail exams not because they are not intelligent, but because they fail to plan…so also most people fail to become the person they dream of becoming because they fail to plan. Remember the old adage that says “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.”

It is planning that separates achievers from ordinary dreamers.

The lifestyle of some students in a school was monitored, 3% of the students wrote their goals and mapped out plans on how to accomplish it, 10% of the students have ideas of what they want but did not write it down, while the rest 87% did not have clear idea of what they want from life.

25 years later, the 3% of the students who wrote down their goals and set out plans on how they will accomplish the goals achieve between 50% to 100% of their goals, the 10% who have ideas of what they want but did not take the pain to write out their plans achieve below 50%, while the rest 87% who don’t have a clear picture of what they want were all stranded in life, most of them lived in abject poverty.

I know that you all want to succeed! But the truth is that – success doesn’t just happen, someone needs to make it happen, and adequate planning must first be in place before you can experience success. The importance of adequate planning can never be over emphasis in the recipe for success.

Whatever your dreams or goals may be in life, the first port of call should be, to sit down and map out strategies on how to accomplish the dream or goal. There is always a magic or miracle that happens when you transfer your ideas into paper and then clearly state the plans that you would want to follow in achieving it. The truth is that you will see all your strength and flaws clearly, and it will be easier for you to make amendments while it’s still on papers rather than when you are on the field executing your plans. It will save you cost and time.

Remember, before you can erect any building, you must first come out with a blue print or a building plan.

Before any plane can take off from the airport, there must be a flight plan.

So also before you start going after your dreams, you must first come out with a plan if indeed you want to succeed.

HOW TO PLAN

#Define what you want – Your Mission!

#Set goals in line with your mission.

Note: your goals can be for 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 1 year, 10 years or your entire life.

The ABCD of Goals

Your goal must be;

A – achievable, don’t set unrealistic goals

B - believable, you must believe in your goals

C – concrete, you must feel your goal.

D – definite, your goal must have a deadline.

Note: whenever you set out your plans, don’t allow it to be rigid, give room for flexibility, sometimes when you get new information, it will become necessary to adjust your plans. The ultimate aim is not just to have plan, but to achieve success. Remember the wise words of Myles Munroe, “Plans may change, but purpose remains constant.”

THE BENEFITS OF PLANNING

The advantages of setting out plans are indeed enormous and unlimited.

  1. Planning will help you to distribute your work load in such a way that you run your life executing your goals smoothly.
  2. It will save you cost and time
  3. It will help you manage your resources.
  4. Planning your life will make you look well coordinated and organized.
  5. It gives you confidence in all that you do; you look up to the future with hope.
  6. It enables you to know what you need to do per time; the urgent will not determine your next line action.

WHAT IS NEXT AFTER PLANNING?

EXECUTION!

I have found out that the greatest achievers in this world are people who set out plans for their lives and then disciplined themselves to follow through the execution of the plan.

Success is always at the end of every task accomplished. No Action! No Success!

In conclusion, I will like to live you with the word of Richard L. WinWord. He said;

“Life offers two great gifts – time, and the ability to choose how we spend it. Planning is a process of choosing among those many options. If we do not choose to plan, then we choose to have others plan for us.”

You can become the Engineer you’ve been dreaming of!

You can become the Accountant, The Banker, The Architect, The Medical Doctor, The Aeronautic Engineer, The Footballer, The Comedian, The Politician, The Philanthropist, The Pastor or whatever you would want to become if only you can take the pain to plan and then follow through with Action or Execution.

I hope to see you at the peak of success unlimited

Thank you very much for listening and God Bless you all!
